What computer file formats do you support?

We work on computers with Windows (PC) Operating Systems. If files are produced on MAC systems please make sure fonts have been outlined (converted to curves). If you have additional questions please contact your Blanchett sales Rep. We support the following: [ .ai – Adobe Illustrator] [ .eps – Illustrator/Corel] [ .cdr – Corel Draw] also know in the industry as “vector” files. Please note: in most cases .jpg / .tif / .gif files are not usable formats.

Why do I need a sign for my business?

Signs are the least expensive, yet most cost effective form of advertising for most businesses. A good sign is your “handshake” with those passing by because signs are “on the job” for you 24/7/365. Businesses are often judged by the appearance and look of their signage. We live in a mobile society with potential customers perpetually relocating each year. As your customers move, you need to replace them by attracting new customers.

What are your payment terms?

Outright Purchase
Cash purchases require a deposit of 30% when the contract is signed. The remaining balance is due 15 days after installation is completed. In some circumstances progress billings or payments can become due during manufacture- these are agreed upon before the contract is signed. They are most applicable in larger scale projects or those where manufacturing can take up to several months.

Lease
Blanchett Neon has several local leasing companies that we use to provide leasing numbers to our customers. Lease Agreements will be between you (the customer) and the leasing company; Blanchett Neon will not be involved or need to see any financial information. Most lease agreements include a down-payment as well as a buy-out option at the end of the term.

Rental Agreements
Long term rental agreements are available for all displays. The most common term is 60 months. All of Blanchett’s rental agreements include complete service and maintenance for the length of the agreement.

Do I need an Illumination Sign

Definitely! We no longer live in a 9-to-5 society, and people will drive past your business location 24/7. With an illuminated sign display, you have an opportunity to communicate with your existing and potential customers, day or night… even when your business is closed.

What should my signage say?

Less is more, communicate what you are selling as simply as possible. Remember the speed of passer-bys has a bearing on the simplicity of the sign – people are looking through a windshield, in traffic, day and night and in all types of weather. Crowding the sign with too many words or lines of text makes it impossible to read from a distance. Use as few words as possible. Proper design is critical to its effectiveness.

How do I send large files to you?

Blanchett Neon maintains a FTP site which is available for you to upload large files via this link. [ftp.blanchettneon.com] If you encounter any problems with our ftp site, please contact your Blanchett sales Rep.

Should I buy or lease a sign?

As a business owner, consider all of your options, which may include cash payment, financing, or leasing.
Some business owners prefer leasing to purchasing to reduce their cash outlay. Leasing enables you to preserve your working capital for inventory, labor, and other normal costs of doing business. A normal lease will result in perpetual monthly payments, you never own the asset. There are leasing options structured with a final large payment to “buy-out” the lease and gain ownership of the asset.

How can I place my order?

Contact a Blanchett Sales Rep., where you will be asked typical questions such as:

  • Purpose of your sign.
  • Where it will be used.
  • How far away you need it to be visible from.
  • What artwork you want on it.
  • When you need it to be installed.
  • “Likes” and “dislikes” when it comes to colors etc.

From there, the Blanchett rep. will then forward this critical information to both the Design Team as well as Estimating, who will then provide the most cost effective way to accomplish your goals. This information will then be passed along back to you.  Once we have your approval, we will produce your sign, install or have it ready for pick up by the date and time we promised.

Do you provide proofs before beginning production?

Yes! Customers will “sign off” a proof sheet prior to production. We make every effort to include all relevant details pertaining to the sign in the proof sheet. At times “color critical” files require a test print. We are only able to accurately match “process colours” as referenced in the Pantone® colour chart. If your artwork uses a specific pantone color, please specify the coated pantone number.

What do I need to know about Trademarks and copyrights?

Clients must insure that upon providing logos/trademarks in any form, the copyrighted materials comes with the permission of the legal originator. It is the responsibility of the client to obtain such permission.

Is there an artwork charge?

The answer to this question is “generally not”. Most charges are included in the price of the end product. This can vary, though, on the complexity of the job. In any case, if it does appear that said costs may arise – your Blanchett Rep. will insure you receive a quote before we start the job.

What are my legal obligations?

You should be aware of several legal obligations that may affect your sign, including, among other things, permits, copyrights, patents and trademarks, building and electrical codes, local zoning or sign codes, and perhaps other regulations. These will vary depending on many factors. Blanchett Neon reps happily walk you through all these steps. In fact, many clients leave the process of filing for permits with us. No headaches!

If I already have a company logo, what format should I make it available in?

Do you publish a list of prices?

No. There are just too many variables involved in sign making that is just not practical to have such a list. Having said that, you will be provided with the final cost prior to our beginning your job. There are no “hidden charges” or surprises.

Do you have any type of discounts?

We do offer quantity discounts for signs that retain the same design and information. An example of this is retail shopping centre pylons. These signs are made in bulk and contain all the same information. The discounts can vary according to the work being produced.
