Illuminated Signage

LED Signage

Quickly becoming the most common form of illumination, a Light Emitting Diode (or LED for short), is a small electronic semi-conductor that converts electric energy into visible light. The chemical compound used in the diode determines the color, brightness, and power efficiency of the LED.

ADVANTAGES TO LED ILLUMINATION

Environmental Benefits

LEDs contain no lead, mercury, or glass, allowing for easier disposal. For any organization looking to obtain a “greener” image, LEDs are an environmentally friendly alternative to other forms of illumination.

Overcomes Cold Weather Functionality

Cold-weather problems have always plagued traditional fluorescent lighting. With an operating range of -40 to 60 degrees C (-40 to 140 degrees F), LEDs can maintain consistent light output for a uniform appearance across a wide range of temperatures.

Even with these general benefits, not all LED modules are the same. Ask your Blanchett representative what manufacturer of LEDs we use and why.

COMMONLY USED

LED Illumination is ideal for:

  • Any large-scale or remote signage that is not easily accessible (Skyline Signage or Large Pylons)
  • Businesses looking for a long-lasting, bright product that requires very little maintenance.
  • Organizations looking to implement a “green” image.

Energy Savings

LEDs can use seventy-five percent less power compared to standard T12 fluorescent lamp ballasts:

  • Modules only require 12 to 24V.
  • Reduced wiring and circuits required.

Reduced Maintenance Costs

Many white LEDs have a rated life of up to 100,000 hours.

LED illumination running ten hours per day can last more than thirteen years, unlike traditional fluorescent tubing, which many need to be changed every few years.

As many retailers and other clients re-brand their signs every seven to ten years, LEDs can effectively last for the entire life of a sign without ever needing to be touched. Fewer system repairs and can eliminate the risk of damaging the sign during maintenance.

The long useful life of LEDs means reduced labor and maintenance costs.

Fluorescent Illumination

LED illumination is not always the best type of illumination for specific signage solutions; let our experienced sales representatives find the most efficient and cost-effective solution for your Edmonton signs.

Blanchett Neon uses T12 fluorescent bulbs for our Edmonton sign solutions:

  • High Light Output.
  • Greater Durability.

COMMONLY USED

Fluorescent Bulbs are ideal for:

  • Backlit signage with standard widths that is easily accessible and protected from the elements.

Neon Illumination

Neon illumination consists of an electrified glass tube containing a “rarefied” gas that, when a voltage is applied to electrodes inserted through the glass, illuminates. The composition of the gas determines the colour emitted.
